BREAKING NEWS

Wayne County Public Schools will start planning to reopen under Plan “B,” meaning school buildings will have to be ready for some students to return in the fall.  The Wayne County Board of Education approved moving forward with the Plan “B” option during a special called meeting Monday, July 20th.

COVID-19

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a disease that was identified in late 2019 and was declared a pandemic on March 11. COVID-19 is an international, national, North Carolina and Wayne County public health emergency.

Coronaviruses like COVID-19 are most often spread through the air by coughing or sneezing, through close personal contact (including touching and shaking hands) or through touching your nose, mouth or eyes before washing your hands.

HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF

Stay safe from the coronavirus.

Wash your Hands

Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds at a time.

Avoid Close Contact

Avoid close contact with people who are ill, gatherings limited to 10 people.

Stay Home

STAYING HOME is the BEST WAY to slow the spread.

Cover Coughs and Sneezes

Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Do not reuse tissue!

Wear a Face Mask

While not required by the general public, it could help stop the spread of the virus.

Clean and disinfect surfaces that are frequently touched.
